Books We’re Thankful For

There are so many things to be thankful this holiday season, but one of the things that has been by our side all year are books! These are the books that changed our lives, the books that others have gifted us, books with sentimental value, or the book that got us into reading. Which book are you thankful for this year?

I'm forever thankful for Ramona Quimby, Age 8. It's the first book I remember loving and reading time and time again. I can picture my well-loved copy so vividly and how I felt while reading it. It kickstarted my love for reading, and for that I'm eternally grateful. —Gabi LePage, Founder

One book I'll always be grateful for is The House in the Cerulean Sea. I think it has so many wonderful lessons to be learned, and the characters are some of my favorites. Cracking it open and rereading certain sections and chapters is like getting a warm hug. —Lizzy Schmitter, Designer

One book that I always look back to as a forever favorite and one I'm thankful for is The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. It's a book that really fueled my love for reading, and a story I had never read the likes of before. It's one I always recommend that people read at least once! —Carly Radiske, Email Marketing Strategist

I will always be thankful for the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. Without this series, books would not be nearly as book of a part of my life. It changed who I was as a person, and allowed me to fall in love with books and feel open to talk about them with others. —Alexis Neuville, Editor

I'm going to say On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong because I was blown away when I read his novel; it's so beautiful. It is a book based on his lived experience growing up in a town a few over from where I grew up and it gave me a whole new perspective on and appreciation of an experience, which is one of the best things books can do for us. —Michelle Martin, Community Manager

I’m forever grateful for Bossypants by Tina Fey. A last-minute purchase on a connecting flight back in 2013, and now constant presence on my nightstand. I laughed, cried, and learned some very valuable lessons of when to own my bossiness (always) and when peeing in a jar at work is acceptable (never). Tina will be a lifelong favorite for me, and I could not be more grateful for her work. —Mackenzie Leavenworth, Outreach Manager

One book I'm grateful for is Florida by Lauren Groff, for a few reasons. Not only was it the first book recommendation I got from Bookstagram, but it was also the book in my very first bookstagram post. Even though I didn't love it, it introduced me to short story collections, which is now one of my favorite formats! —Taryn Dennie, Social Media Manager
