What We’re Reading: January 2021

Can you believe 2021 is finally here? We’re already piling up our TBR piles, and we can’t wait to dive in. See what our team is reading this month and find new books to check out this month.

Gabi LePage, Founder

I'm planning to read The Midnight Library by Matt Haig. It's been at the top of my stack since I got it a few months back, and I ended up putting it off in December to stick to cozy holiday reads. I can't wait to dive in—I've heard such wonderful things about it!

Lizzy Schmitter, Designer

I want to read thrillers/mysteries I've had on my TBR for awhile, including These Violent Delights by Micah Nemerever and The Secret History by Donna Tartt. Both come highly rated, so I'm excited to dive in and cross them off my list!

Taryn Dennie, Social Media Manager

This month, I plan on reading Bestiary by K-Ming Chang. I bought a copy a few months ago because I’ve heard nothing but great things about it. I haven’t picked it up yet but I’m going to prioritize it for 2021.

Carly Radiske, Email Marketing Manager

I'm planning on reading The Mask Falling by Samantha Shannon. It comes out later in January, but I'm obsessed with this series, and I'm sure I'll devour it within a day or two. Every book in the series has been better than the last, so I can't wait to dive into the world she's created again!

Alexis Neuville, Editor

Back in 2020, Reese selected A Cuban Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrow by Lauren Taylor Namey, so that’s moving to the top of my TBR pile in 2021. It’s supposed to be a super cozy read set in England, and I can’t wait to be transported there!

Michelle Martin, Community Manager

January, to me, always feels like the right time to be ambitious and get to some of those books that I missed out on the year before. I also love reading a darker novel in January, something serious and atmospheric (to go along with those super short days!). I'm planning to read A Children's Bible by Lydia Millet since I heard nothing but rave reviews from some of my trusted book reviewers.

Mackenzie Leavenworth, Outreach Manager

I’m excited to read The Duke & I by Julia Quinn! Shonda Rhimes has adapted Quinn's series into 'Bridgerton', which premieres on Dec 25th on Netflix! I'm going to be reading The Duke & I, which is the first book in the series as early as possible this month so I can jump into the show!
